The Amflow TL Carbon is a very different kind of bike for Amflow.
After the launch of the PL, PX and PR models, most riders will naturally associate Amflow with powerful, lightweight, full suspension electric mountain bikes. Bikes built around trail performance, rapid acceleration and the Avinox drive system.
The new Amflow TL Carbon takes that same core technology and points it in a different direction.
This is not a long-travel eMTB.
It is not a stripped-back city bike.
And it is not a basic hybrid with a motor added.
The Amflow TL Carbon is a full suspension electric touring bike designed around comfort, power, practicality and long-distance versatility. It takes the Avinox platform and builds it into a bike that looks ready for commuting, touring, gravel paths, forest tracks, bridleways, bikepacking and everyday use.
On paper, it is one of the most interesting bikes Amflow has released so far.
A different direction for Amflow
The first thing to understand is where the TL Carbon sits.
Amflow already has bikes aimed at aggressive off-road riding. The TL Carbon is not trying to replace those. Instead, it opens up the Avinox system to riders who want something more practical and more comfort-focused.
It has:
- A carbon full suspension frame
- A removable 800Wh battery
- A powerful Avinox M2 drive unit
- Front and rear mudguards
- Integrated lights
- A rear rack
- A kickstand
- A bottle cage
- A touring cockpit
- Dropper post
- 27.5” wheels with Maxxis Crossmark tyres
That tells you a lot about the bike straight away.
This is not a bike built purely around lap times, trail centres or steep descents. It is built around going places, carrying kit, staying comfortable and keeping control when the surface gets rough.
And that makes it quite a clever addition to the Amflow range.
The motor is still the headline
At the heart of the Amflow TL Carbon is the Avinox M2 drive unit.
On paper, the numbers are serious:
- 110Nm nominal torque
- 125Nm peak torque
- Avinox DPC100 2-inch OLED control display
- Wireless controllers on both sides of the handlebar
For a touring bike, that is a huge amount of support.
That matters because the way people use a bike like this is very different to a lightweight city e-bike. The TL Carbon is going to be used for longer rides, mixed terrain, steep climbs, luggage, panniers, loaded riding and days where the bike may be carrying more than just the rider.
In those situations, torque matters.
A weaker system can feel fine on flat roads but start to struggle once the gradient increases or the bike is loaded up. The Avinox M2 should give the TL Carbon a much stronger, more confident feel when climbing, especially on rougher tracks or longer gradients.
It also means the TL Carbon should still feel lively, even when fitted with mudguards, racks and touring kit.
That is probably the most interesting part of the bike.
It brings proper full-power e-bike performance into a much more practical touring package.
800Wh removable battery
The TL Carbon uses the Avinox RS800 battery.
That gives the bike a large 800Wh capacity, which is exactly what you would want to see on this type of build. A touring e-bike needs to prioritise usable range, not just headline weight figures.
The battery is also removable, which is a big real-world advantage.
That means:
- Easier charging away from the bike
- Easier storage
- Better practicality for flats, garages and workplaces
- More flexibility when travelling
- Potentially easier battery management on multi-day rides
- For a performance mountain bike, a removable battery is useful.
For a touring bike, it makes even more sense.
A lot of riders using this bike will not always have a plug socket directly next to where the bike is stored. Being able to remove the battery and charge it separately makes day-to-day ownership much easier.
Full suspension touring comfort
The biggest visual difference between the TL Carbon and most touring e-bikes is the suspension layout.
This is a full suspension bike, with:
- FOX AWL Sport 120mm fork
- FOX FLOAT Rhythm rear shock
- Amflow TL-specific rear shock tune
- 190x45mm shock sizing
That immediately gives it a different purpose to a rigid hybrid or hardtail touring bike.
The suspension is not there to make the TL Carbon into an enduro bike. It is there to add comfort, control and stability over longer distances.
That should make a noticeable difference on:
Broken tarmac
Canal paths
Forest roads
Gravel tracks
Bridleways
Rough cycle routes
Loaded touring rides
Longer mixed-surface days
On a normal rigid or hardtail e-bike, repeated vibration can become tiring. A full suspension platform helps take the sting out of those surfaces and should make the bike feel more composed when the ground gets uneven.
For UK riding, that makes a lot of sense.
Not every ride is smooth tarmac. A lot of the best routes link roads, lanes, tracks, gravel, towpaths and rougher off-road sections together. The TL Carbon looks built for exactly that kind of riding.
Practical kit comes as standard
This is where the TL Carbon starts to make a lot of sense.
The bike comes equipped with:
- Front mudguard
- Rear mudguard
- Avinox front light
- Sate-lite M8 rear light with integrated reflector
- Rear rack
- Kickstand
- Bottle cage
- Flat pedals
- Torque wrench
- Two keys for the removable battery
That is a very complete standard package.
The rear rack is also compatible with the MIK HD standard, which makes it more useful for luggage, panniers and everyday carrying options.
The frame is compatible with front and rear racks, front and rear mudguards and bike trailers when used with the correct trailer thru-axle. That gives the bike a lot of real-world flexibility.
This is one of the biggest differences between the TL Carbon and a typical high-end eMTB.
Most eMTBs need accessories adding afterwards if you want them to become more practical. The TL Carbon has clearly been designed around practicality from the start.
First impressions
Our first impression is that the Amflow TL Carbon could be one of the most practical uses of the Avinox system so far.
The PL, PX and PR models naturally grab attention from riders looking at performance eMTBs. They are exciting bikes because they are fast, powerful and lightweight for what they offer.
The TL Carbon is exciting for a different reason.
It takes that same kind of motor performance and puts it into a bike that could be genuinely useful every day.
A full suspension touring bike with an 800Wh removable battery, racks, lights, mudguards, kickstand, dropper post and a carbon frame is not something you see every day. Add in the Avinox M2 drive unit and it becomes a very unusual package.
It is practical, but not boring.
Comfort-focused, but still powerful.
Ready for commuting, but not limited to commuting.
That is what makes the TL Carbon interesting.
It looks like a bike for riders who want to go further, carry more and ride more varied terrain without giving up the feel of a premium full suspension e-bike.
