The Santa Cruz Blur 2027 is a lightweight 29-inch cross-country mountain bike designed for both racing and fast everyday trail riding. Its 120mm fork, 120mm Superlight rear suspension and Carbon CC frame combine efficient acceleration and climbing with more control on technical terrain than a traditional short-travel XC bike.

The updated geometry places the rider more centrally within the bike, helping the Blur feel composed when descending without losing the direct, responsive character required for racing. It is suitable for riders who want one fast bike for competition, training and regular trail use.

The currently confirmed UK Blur 2027 range includes one complete bike and one frameset. Both use the same Carbon CC frame, 120mm of rear travel and 29-inch wheel platform.

• Blur CC 90: Carbon CC frame with a 120mm FOX 34 SL Float Performance fork, FOX Float SL Performance rear shock, cable-operated SRAM 90 Eagle T-Type drivetrain, OneUp dropper post and Race Face AR27 rims with DT Swiss 370 hubs.
• Blur CC Frameset: Carbon CC frame supplied with a FOX Float SL Factory rear shock for riders who want to create a custom race or short-travel trail build.

Santa Cruz has increased the Blur's suspension capability to 120mm at both ends, reduced frame weight and revised the Superlight suspension kinematics. The reach is longer and is paired with shorter stems, while the 75-degree seat angle and 66-degree head angle create a more confident position for technical climbs and descents.

The result is still an efficient XC race bike, but one with a broader riding range for riders who also use it for fast trail riding between race days.

The Blur is the lighter and more race-focused bike, with 120mm of travel front and rear. It prioritises acceleration, climbing efficiency and speed across long distances. The Tallboy has 140mm front and 130mm rear travel, providing more suspension support and a more trail-focused riding position for rougher and steeper terrain.

Choose the Blur if cross-country racing, fast climbing and low weight are your priorities. Choose the Tallboy if you want a more forgiving trail bike for technical descents, larger impacts and more aggressive everyday riding.

No. The Blur is capable of World Cup-style XC racing, but its 120mm travel, modern geometry, dropper post and more confident suspension setup also make it suitable for fast recreational trail riding, long-distance events and demanding natural singletrack.

It remains a lightweight short-travel bike rather than an enduro bike. Riders who regularly prioritise steep, rough descents or bike-park terrain will be better served by a Tallboy, Hightower, Bronson or Nomad.

Choose the Blur CC 90 if you want a complete, ready-to-ride bike with FOX Performance suspension, a reliable cable-operated SRAM 90 T-Type drivetrain and a dropper post. It provides the full 2027 Blur platform without requiring a separate component build.

Choose the Blur CC Frameset if you already own suitable components or want to select every part of the bike yourself. It is supplied with a FOX Float SL Factory shock and provides the basis for a customised race, marathon or lightweight trail build.
