Transition Bandit 20" 2027
The new 2027 Transition Bandit is a youth mountain bike built to give younger riders a genuine trail-ready platform as they develop their skills and confidence. At its heart is a durable Bandit Alloy frame paired with 20” wheels and a 100mm X-Fusion Romain 20 fork, giving the bike a capable front suspension setup while keeping the overall package nimble and easy to handle. The Bandit’s youth-specific geometry and components are designed around smaller riders, creating a bike that feels balanced and intuitive on the trail rather than simply being a scaled-down adult bike. With its hardtail design, the Bandit keeps things simple and responsive, making it well suited to everything from local trails and woodland riding to more technical sections as young riders continue to progress.
The contact points have also been carefully selected with younger riders in mind. An SDG Slater JR handlebar and grips are paired with an SDG Fly JR saddle, while the Trans-X 35mm stem helps create a cockpit suited to the proportions of the bike. The Trans-X SP66 seatpost keeps the setup straightforward, while Shimano MT410 Short Reach brakes and 160mm Shimano RT56 rotors provide braking control through a lever setup designed for smaller hands. The combination of 20” wheels, youth-specific finishing kit and 100mm of front suspension gives the Bandit a confident feel without making the bike unnecessarily complicated, allowing young riders to concentrate on developing their technique, cornering, braking and handling skills.
The Bandit is finished with a Shimano CUES 9-speed drivetrain, using a short-reach SL-U4050 shifter, RD-U4010 rear derailleur and an 11–36T Linkglide cassette, giving riders a useful range of gears for climbing and navigating varied terrain. A 28T Samox alloy crank keeps the gearing suited to the needs of younger riders, while WTB ST i30 rims are paired with sealed-bearing hubs and 2.3” Maxxis Minion DHR II tyres front and rear for a capable trail setup. SDG Slater Jr pedals are included, completing a bike that is built around the needs of its intended rider. The result is a properly equipped 20” youth hardtail that can help bridge the gap between a basic kids’ bike and a more capable mountain bike, giving young riders a platform they can grow their skills on and enjoy as their riding becomes more adventurous.
