Redefining Trail Performance: The Whyte Secta R 2026

The Whyte Secta R builds on Whyte Bikes’ long-standing reputation for creating some of the UK’s most capable and confidence-inspiring hardcore hardtail mountain bikes. Sharing the same all-new hydroformed 6061-T6 aluminium frame as its higher-spec sibling, the Secta R delivers modern, progressive trail geometry that’s long, low and slack for stability on steep descents, balanced with a short rear end that keeps the handling lively and agile.

Up front, a 130mm SR Suntour XCR 34 air suspension fork provides adjustable, trail-ready performance, paired with fast-rolling 29in wheels and tubeless-ready Maxxis Rekon 2.4in tyres for confident grip and composure across everything from rocky technical sections to long trail centre days. A Shimano CUES U4000 1x9 drivetrain with a wide-range 11–46T cassette delivers dependable shifting and a practical gear spread, keeping climbs manageable and trail riding simple and reliable.

Powerful Tektro M285 hydraulic disc brakes with 180mm rotors front and rear supply consistent, confidence-inspiring stopping power, while a TransX size-specific dropper post allows you to move freely on descents and stay in control when the trail steepens. Fully weather-sealed and thoughtfully equipped, the Secta R is built to thrive in UK conditions and be reliable, capable and ready for year-round riding.

Simply versatile, simply fun

Secta R has been designed to deliver an exhilarating and confidence-boosting ride on any trail. By combining progressive 29er trail hardtail geometry with the sweet spot of a 130mm travel, short-offset fork, carefully chosen components and tyre selection, Whyte has tuned the Secta R for brilliantly balanced handling everywhere. Whether you’re grinding up technical climbs, charging through flowing singletrack or dropping into rough descents, it’s all about maximising fun on the trails you love.

Made to last

Designed for real-world UK riding, the Secta R is loaded with durability-focused features to keep it running smoothly ride after ride. External head tube cable routing and fully sealed cable runs with weather-proof ports make servicing simple and protect against the elements. A weather-sealed seatpost collar keeps water and grime out of the frame, while clearance for up to a 29 x 2.6in rear tyre—thanks to Whyte’s big-tyre-friendly single-chainring design—lets you run extra grip when conditions demand it. A custom chainstay protector reduces chain slap and noise, keeping your ride quiet and your frame protected.
