Brake Pads
Whether you bike has rim brakes or hydraulic disc brakes its imperative to replace brake pads when they wear thin. Look for worn indicators or thin pads. Also, pay attention to performance: reduced braking, squealing, grinding, a spongy feel, or visible damage all mean it's time for new pads. Our mechanics can quickly assess and replace them, or you can find a wide selection in our showroom.
Brake Bleeds
Wondering if your brakes need a bleed? Check for these signs: a spongy or inconsistent lever feel, reduced braking power, or a lever that pulls all the way to the handlebar. These indicate air in your hydraulic system. Our workshop can expertly bleed your front, rear, or both brakes as needed.
Bicycle Drivetrain Maintenance
Maintaining each component in the drivetrain extends the life of every component. Our workshop offers lots of services to keep your drivetrain running smoothly. From gear tunes, to full drivetrain strip downs.
How often should I bring my bike in for a service?
Routine maintenance intervals depend on your riding style and frequency. However, we recommend a standard bike check every six months for typical use. For a thorough service, including bearing greasing and suspension maintenance, an annual 'Gold Service' is ideal. High-performance suspension systems may require more frequent attention.

Error codes can vary in severity if your e-bike is displaying any codes at all, its always best get your electric bike booked in and plugged into diagnostics so our mechanics can investigate the issue.
Why is my speed sensor is showing the wrong/no speed?
Speed sensor readings can be affected by prolonged riding or lack of cleaning. Mud and debris buildup on the sensor can interfere with its ability to register speed.
Troubleshooting: Thoroughly clean the speed sensor and the area around it (often located near the rear wheel/chainstay). Ensure the speed sensor magnet is correctly positioned. If the speed sensor still has issues after cleaning, it's best to book a workshop appointment for further inspection.

We have established relationships with these brands, allowing us direct access to their parts, labor, and expertise. This ensures we provide the highest quality service for these e-bike systems. Unfortunately, we cannot service e-bike systems outside of these brands due to limitations in accessing parts and expertise. This is in the best interest of our customers, ensuring we can provide reliable and effective repairs. Please note that we can still service general mechanical issues on e-bikes with other systems, provided the problem is not related to the electrical components.
Can you fit lights, displays and other electrical components to my E-Bike?
We can fit and wire various components to your E-Bike - depending on the component and the components compatibility... the most commom are displays and lights. Displays are typically only compatible with systems within their own ecosystem, such as the 'Bosch Smart System' or 'Shimano Steps'. This display guide chart compares all of the various displays from the brands we retail to show the compatibility for each.
Lights can either work with a external battery or wire straight into your e-bikes motor. Many ebike systems feature toggles and switches to engage the lights wired into the motor. Again this depends on the system and light so its best to contact us and speak to a mechanic to determine wether your electric bike is compatible with the light you desire to fit.

Suspension
Which suspension brands do you service?
At MTB Monster we offer both in house suspension servicing and the services offered through the official UK distributors. The brands we service are - RockShox, Fox, Marzocchi, Ohlins, X-Fusion and SR Suntour.
Can you service my forks on my Bike?
Yes, our workshop can service the lower part of the fork in house, including oil seals. However for a full fork service, the forks will be sent off to the relevant UK authorised service centre.
To determine if your forks need attention heres a few things to look out for: Leaking Oil: Seeing oil dripping from your fork legs? That's a sign the seals are worn and need replacing to keep your suspension working smoothly. Reduced Suspension Travel: If you're finding it hard to use all of your fork's travel, it means something's likely binding or there's contamination inside. A service will get it working properly again. Strange noises, like squelching or gurgling, coming from your fork are a sign that it needs immediate attention. These noises mean that air and oil have mixed inside the fork. They suggest internal problems that need addressing to ensure your fork performs correctly.
Can my fork travel be altered on my Bike?
Yes, we can change your fork travel depending on whether your fork is compatible with the desire for setup. And additionally the changes do not move outside the parameters of the brands recommended limits.
Can you fit and remove volume spacers?
Yes, our mechanics can add or remove volume spacers to suit your desired setup.
Can you service a shock air can?
Yes, our workshop regularly performs shock air can services. A seal replacement is also a standard part of this service.
While not exaustive - a few common shock issues to look out for; No damping, If your bike feels excessively springy, or you're experiencing harsh impacts, it's likely your shock's damping isn't functioning correctly. This can significantly affect your ride's comfort and control. Leaking Oil, if you see oil residue on your shock, it's crucial to have it inspected. Adjusters not moving properly. Leaking air, A shock that's losing air pressure means the internal seals are compromised. Strange noises, like squelching or gurgling, coming from your shock are a sign that it needs immediate attention. These noises mean that air and oil have mixed inside the shock.
General Maintenance
Does my Bike require a brake bleed?
If your brake lever feels soft, mushy, or travels further than usual before engaging, it's a strong indicator that air has entered the hydraulic system, necessitating a bleed. Reduced Braking Power: If you notice a significant decrease in braking performance, even with full lever engagement, air in the system could be the culprit. Lever Pulls to the Bar: If your brake lever pulls all the way to the handlebar without providing adequate stopping power, a bleed is likely required. Our workshop can bleed front or rear brakes or both should your bike require a brake bleed.
We offer comprehensive puncture repair services and we retail all the neccessary parts the repair both tubed and tubeless tires. Our experienced mechanics will assess the damage and advise you on the necessary repairs and parts. We can then fit the required components to get you back on the trails or road as quickly as possible.
How often should I bring my Bike in for a general service?
This heavily depends on usage, however for standard usage, a standard service, checking over all the bike is recommended every 3-6 months. And a full strip down (Gold Service) every 6-12 months to ensure all bearings are well greased and the suspension is in good working order. Certain higher end performance suspension can require more attention simply due to the performance parts featured on these components. (Please refer to manufacturers guidelines).
Does my Bike need new brake pads?
Heres how to determine if your brake pads need replacing: look for pads wearing thin. For hydraulic disc brakes, check the pad thickness. Shimano advises replacing the pads when there is less than 0.9mm of braking material left, whereas SRAM says the pad should measure 2.5mm, including the backing plate. For rim brakes, check the pad thickness and also ensure the pads aren't worn unevenly.
