Check out the latest custom build to leave the MTB Monster workshop! The brief on this build was simple; make the ultimate bike that showcases the absolute pinnacle of mountain bike tech.
The starting place for the custom build is the new Yeti SB140, a bike that is designed with fun in mind. The SB140 runs 140mm of travel at the back and 160mm up front and rolls on 27.5" wheels.
The groupset on this build is the new SRAM XX1 AXS Eagle in the oil slick colour. This provides both a no-nonsense solution without the need to worry about cable stretch, yet the ability to personalise and control the drivetrain. Eagle AXS combines the proven 1x12 with a wireless electronic derailleur and controller. The build also features the Rockshox Reverb AXS, the new wireless dropper post that offers the same adjustment as the drivetrain.
The custom build is sat on Enve M630 rims laced to Chris King hubs and wrapped in Michelin Wild Enduro tyres. A combination loaded with traction, acceleration and agility - the ultimate recipe for fun.
We fitted the Deity Skywire 35 Carbon handlebar in the Turquoise colour scheme due to their characteristics in reducing arm pump at the end of a ride. 800mm wide and with a 25mm rise means this bar is perfectly spec'd to keep you riding harder for longer.
Custom top tube graphics come from Invisiframe Graphics and neatly tie up the colour scheme on the build. The frame was then protected using the Invisiframe protection kit to prevent any scuffs and scrapes from damaging the frame of the bike.
Given the choice, we prefer riding without a backpack. The OneUp Components Tool System is the solution. The EDC Tool System means that you can pack the essential tools inside the steerer tube, right at your finger tips. By using the EDC Stem in conjunction with the Tool System, you do not need to thread your fork and risk your warranty.
On a bike which is designed to be fun, you want a reassurance that when you start to pile on the speed you have the ability to stop. For this reason, we fitted Shimano Saint brakes on Shimano Ice-Tech 203mm rotors on the front and back.
